BEFORE H1, THERE WAS SUNSHINE.
H1 started with a simple idea: I wanted to create something that felt like me.
I’ve always been a passionate person, constantly thinking about what’s next, what I could create, and what I could build for myself. I wanted to make something that wasn’t just a product, but a reflection of who I am — something with a story, a point of view, and a little piece of me in every detail.
My dad has always called me “Sunshine,” a nickname that has stayed with me and became part of the story behind H1. H1 comes from hydrogen, the main component of the sun — a small connection that eventually became the name of something much bigger.
From the beginning, I knew I didn’t want to make things that felt interchangeable. I wanted every piece to have its own personality, just like the people who wear them. That’s where our one-of-one approach comes from: creating pieces that carry a part of the person who made them, and eventually become a part of the person who wears them.
02 — THE MATERIAL
WE START WITH WHAT ALREADY EXISTS.
H1 creates one-of-one handbags using recovered textile materials, including trapillo made from textile leftovers from the fashion industry. Instead of starting with something new, we work with what already exists and turn it into something unexpected. Every piece is designed and handmade in Colombia, making each bag unique by nature.
03 — THE FUTURE
DESIGNED FOR THE CYCLE TO CONTINUE.
H1 is moving towards a circular model where our pieces can eventually return, be taken apart and become part of something new. We believe the story of a material shouldn't have to end when a bag is sold. Our goal is to design with the next life of each piece in mind — keeping materials in use for as long as possible.
